Teen Central

History of Teen Central

In 1985 OasisYouth Services, Inc. formed as an organization to provide the community of Manheim, PA with a youth center and youth programs. Oasis quickly became a favorite place for many teens to hang out and receive the relational, social, mental, and spiritual help that they so desperately needed. With its humble beginnings in the town's Union Hall, Oasis eventually moved to a grander facility along Railroad Ave. For about 17 years the ministry operated out of this location and eventually involved nearly 100 youth each week in its programs. In 2003 the Railroad Ave. building was sold and the new owner soon needed the youth center's space for his growing business. This forced the ministry to seriously consider its future and reevaluate its purpose in the community. Unanimously, the Board of Directors chose to continue operations, depending on God to supply the resources. Space was provided in the basement of the Manheim Mennonite Church, at the corner of Grant and High St., for Oasis to continue its vital ministry and maintain the relationships established in the past. This location provided great opportunity for the organization to refocus itself, and make the changes necessary to more effectively accomplish the mission. Today, the ministry involves less youth than two years ago but offers a deeper level of interaction than ever before. With new leadership and a renewed vision, the Organization hopes to acquire a new facility, know as TEEN CENTRAL, that will enable greater involvement and expanded ministry.

This vision has become a reality with the official opening of Teen Central at 15 S. Wolf St.  In September of 2007 OYS,Inc. purchased 15 S. Wolf St. with hopes of transforming this old wood shop into a youth center.  Permits and plans were approved in November of 2007.  Following 14 months of hard work Teen Central officialy opened January 5, 2009.
